Can you change stats on Ascended GW2? ›

Legendary equipment allows changing its stats freely whenever character is out of combat. Ascended weapons, armor, and certain attribute infusions can be replaced with new items that have different stats via the Mystic Forge. This process destroys the original gear along with any upgrades or infusions it might have.

Ascended gear is the best tier. It's significantly more expensive than exotic gear, as a full set is timegated and costs 200-400 gold to craft. However, it only offers a 12.5% damage increase over exotic gear.

Legendary equipment will always have stat values equivalent to the the highest tier of equipment available. Currently, they have stats equivalent to Ascended equipment, at least where ascended equipment is available.

It's best to start upgrading to Ascended with weapons, as they offer both attribute increases and increased damage because of higher weapon strength, which is especially valuable for Power damage builds.

You can get a maximum total of 33 Legendary Insights per week. 15 from Heart of Thorns raid encounters. 10 from Path of Fire raid encounters. 5 from End of Dragons Challenge Mote strike missions, including season 1's Old Lion's Court.

Daily Fractal chests have a small chance of rewarding an Ascended armor chest. Raid bosses have a chance to drop a unique armor box (e.g. Chest of Slothasor Gloves or Chest of Sabetha's Armor). Each boss can only drop a single type of armor. Only available once per kill weekly.

To craft Ascended armor, players will first need to obtain an Ascended Insignia recipe sheet and use it to learn the recipe for the prefix they want (e.g. Recipe: Zojja's Berserker Insignia for Berserker stats). Players also need to obtain an ascended armor recipe for the piece with that specific prefix.

Zehtuka's armor is an ascended armor set. It is only obtainable by players who own the Path of Fire expansion. This set has Harrier's stats.

You must choose an order to complete your personal story. It is also required for Krytan map completion, since Claw Island can only be unlocked during the story. Characters may only purchase weapons and armor from the order they belong to.

Salvaging ascended equipment with an Ascended Salvage Tool or Ascended Salvage Kit is guaranteed to return upgrades such as runes, sigils, and infusions.
